Hot Bowls of Food at Spoon and Stone Restaurant/Cafe
Oopsies. Seems like a couple of friends and I jinxed the weather talking about how dry it was this year compared to the same dates with last year’s cabin fever inducing monsoon. =b
Cue, Ms. Regine Velasquez’ song about the rain … the one made into a meme:

John Jessie Balboa Facebook post =))) (Pardon the meme’s French)
More than ever, we need hot bowls of food … soupy – all the better. Glad are we to have Spoon and Stone in Baguio (menu here) today.
Before we talk about the bowls of ultra scorching ramen we had there, however, let’s look at some of their soupless offerings. *hihi
Not necessarily hot but I thoroughly enjoyed myself with this resto’s version of potato salad. Loving anything potato, this (pretty) bowl offered an interesting twist to the overall taste with the addition of some ebiko pork strips and the house tuna mayo dressing. Gosh, my list for potato salad favorites is getting long. Whoa!
For drinks, I got myself a glass of Yakult shake, a drink that eatsplorer Angeline raved about. While passion fruit wasn’t available then, I did like this creamy kiwi Yakult shake. As for Race, of course, he got a cup of coffee … a nice and butterscotch flavored one as well as an extra drink that came with his rice meal. =D
To get all its patrons started, any order of rice meals also include soup for starters at Spoon&Stone.
While waiting for Race’s meal, have a look at the al fresco dining area of this house turned eating place (from both ends and in a daytime and nighttime setting). =)
Spoon and Stone rice is rice topped with strips of nori, onion leek rings, kimchi, sisig, and chicken. Cube, it says on their Facebook page, but I think these pieces were more than just cubes. Definitely, a stone bowl packed tight and piled high with grub. \m/
Seeing as my potato salad left me with more room for food, we got the curious spicy corn biscuits. ^^, Like flattened meat balls with tons of corn kernels, with sweet chili dip, this became one of Race’s instant faves.
And so we come to the days where it’s raining … not just as one of Baguio’s “seasons in a day”, but morning, noon, and night rain, rain, rain. =)) For this, we had nothing on our minds to eat but ramen, noodles, soup. Both the chicken katsu and the tonkotsu noodles came in the same soup base of pork broth. Both were piping hot.
I felt like my uvula grew a mouth of its own and started silently screaming with every spoonful that trickled into my mouth. (Eeek, it burrrns! *snickers)
The Japanese style fried deboned chicken was a huge piece with breading that started to absorb/thicken some of Race’s soup. Mine had “tenga ng daga” mushrooms that I thought needed to stew a bit more in the boiling soup for in their freshness, there’s a bitter aftertaste to it. It also had miyeok guk seaweed thrown in, much to my delight. (“,) It was good that there was only a small portion of melty fatty pork slices in this bowl. My gums, true to the warning on the menu; I did feel like my chest tightened from the richness of this ramen.
The pasta and the teriyaki chicken together, separate, alternate, whichever, it works as a teriyaki pasta dish (in a regular plate). Some bits of the pasta did have a chewy clumpy quality to it but that’s all right, I’ll live. The chicken was tasty and tender lending a smoky flavor to the scrumptious sauce.
X marks Spoon & Stone Cafe and Resto for good food in Baguio. My spoon’s in hand and ready. Now, pass me that hot bowl, please, thank you.

Another great restaurant find by Xine find good Baguio foods. At mas mura na ramen sa spoon and stone. Sa ramen sora kasi pang maraming pera lagi hahaha
Hello, Mario! Lots to see on Facebook; it definitely lengthened our Baguio resto list considerably. =b
Recent additions to the Spoon & Stone menu, these bowls of ramen and pasta. Totally great news for us eatsplorers that Spoon and Stone Restaurant gave them such a reasonable price, too.
I hope you get as ‘warm and cozy’ an experience at your visit to this cafe as we did! (“,)
