One Piece RestoBar: A Portion of the Precious One Piece in Baguio
These days, it’s hard not to stay up to date with what’s going on in the world. Even without watching TV or the news, our social media newsfeeds are enough to inform us of the latest events.
A little after the holidays, I saw a post on our Baguio Food Adventurer friend’s profile. Combined with her fab collage of photos in One Piece Restaurant was a quick review giving me a heads up of the dishes they serve there. With such a deluge of Korean foodstuff already in the City of Pines, I wasn’t compelled to go until AA asked for my take on the resto. (Thank you, Clar; and thank you, AA. =D )
Feeling up to it after almost a week on house arrest due to a bad cold, we checked the OP restobar out the first day they opened at 11:00 a.m. instead of 5:00 p.m. yesterday. \m/ While a resto bar, I guess they’ll get so much more if they open in the morning. Hooray for giving the daywalkers some of that action, too! No doubt, we had great fun looking around the place, with so many bits and bobs to inspect closely, a worthy collection from a super One Piece fan, most definitely.

The lunch and dinner menu for single orders, complete with rice. As for the other One Piece restaurant offerings, the menu’s posted on their Facebook page, click here. (NOTE that doorbell like thingy on the photo under the book menu. Every table has one so that you can easily call for service … in the evenings I’m assuming because it’s dark in the bar)
Unfortunately, the manga motif stops there. When it comes to the menu, they have Korean dishes, pasta and beer match picapica to offer. While they sounded scrumptious, I found myself longing for something pirate-y … or at least something Japanese per the nationality of the comic book creator.
Or how about just One Piece inspired dishes … even if it’s just a name. (I don’t think I would want to eat a real Devil Fruit, enticing as its special powers granting qualities are. It doesn’t sound like I can choose which powers too, so Luffy can keep the rubber like properties of his body to himself. =)) )
The smoked chicken quesadilla, we savored every bite of. So rich and cheesy with a strong kick to the “dry” salsa it was served with. One quick sip of our mango cheese milkshake (a fancy drink, still a bit ice cream consistency, wee) put that fire out in an instant.

Tri-beef steak ^^, UPDATE 01/27/2016: Alrightie, got word from the people at the One Piece decorated establishment, that this isn’t tri-beef steak. From the looks of it, I’m guessing, it’s bulgogi. We’ll have to come back real soon to try the REAL tribeefsteak. *giggles
Then arrived, our tri-beefsteak. Different from the photo on the menu and served on a regular plate, not a sizzling plate, it reminded us of a Filipino staple, bistek. (UPDATE 01/27/2016: Alrightie, got word from the people at the One Piece decorated establishment, that this isn’t tri-beef steak. From the looks of it, I guess it’s bulgogi. It still stands however, it’s like bistek Tagalog. We’ll have to come back real soon to try the REAL tribeefsteak. *giggles) It was fairly tasty with banchan of marble potatoes covered in a honey mustard dressing.
When I saw that a single serving of kkotgae tang was available, I took the chance of ordering a bowl as I still have not subdued my craving for crab. =b It was a good enough serving with two well sized (body the size of my fist) crabs, slices of tofu, a couple mussels (with muscles *snickers), a huge sheet of the seaweed like the one used in miyeok guk, lots of minced garlic and spicy, spicy broth (that there was no fishy ‘malansa‘ smell anywhere. Yeah!)

A few of the characters in OP … Wanted: Dead or alive. … and a generic ship. Most likely “borrowed … without permission”. *heeharhar
Having such huge servings, Race and I thought of taking the soup as well as what was left of the quesadillas home. While I’m writing this, it excites me to think that I still have something to snack on today. For dinner, the soup with matching full concentration on getting into every nook and cranny of the crustacean for its meat. ^^, (Good timing too, it’s a 10 degrees Celsius kind of night.)

X, with a fancy drink in hand like on a cruise … NOT one of the Straw Hat Pirates. =)) (Check out the twisty wooden stools, cute no?)
X marks Chef Andrew One Piece Restaurant for good food in Baguio. A portion of the ultimate treasure found its way to the City of Pines, who would have thunk it? *hihi
That’s only a fraction of it though sooooo the adventure for Luffy and his Straw Hat friends … and also for us … continues. (“,)
Food: for the quesadillas and the mango cheese shake and
for the other two dishes we had on this visit.
Service: Very attentive to our needs. When he saw me taking photos of the place, he turned the lights on. When he noticed the flies started attacking our table (especially when we were given a kimchi side dish), he moved the fan so we could stop fanning over the plates. He was eager to look for a candle too, just in case the wind speeds didn’t work to keep those pesky winged things away. Thank you so much, Sir; good job!
Ambiance: So comfy cozy, I could see myself hanging out at this place during the day. Race is also eyeing the place as a hangout with friends at night. [The beer is served in such amusing kegs (found at the bar), I just might come with, one time just to see it in action. *hee]
