Baguio Craft Brewery: Where There’s Food, There I’ll Be
Wow, that recuperation took longer than I expected! It turned out to be a true blue recovery, too, with me coming down with a stress cold and a stress fever over it. =S So let’s drown these ‘sorrows’ and talk about Baguio Craft Brewery today. (I still prefer to suffocate it with chocolate … and stuff it with good food =b)
… which, we’ll get straight right off the bat; the brewery did have. Yey!
Being a teetotaler, I wasn’t sure how I was going to check this place off our list when I heard about them (or that it would even make the list since it’s a bona fide drinking place.) When my friend said she was curious about it though, I took it as a chance to get together with one of my best bosom buddies. (So glad you’re home, Anne; big hugs!)

The beer menu. Click here for the food menu.
Doing some recon on the brewery, trying to see how a visit could work, I saw that they had a couple dishes on their menu. It was enough to make my foodie heart sing. (Oh, pulutan, I love you so. ^^,)
We were at RKC building a little before 5:00 p.m. (Looks like we opened the place that day *excited much) (Shout out to Joni! It was nice running into you!) and had our pick of where to park our butts (right by the huge beer brewing drum like thingies).
With the assistance of our knowledgeable attendant \m/, we … by this, I mean, Race and Anne, picked which of the beers will be a repeat on our tasting tray. Tasting trays are composed of six glasses (six BIG enough glasses, I was expecting shots *hihi) so with two trays, we pretty much covered the Baguio Craft Brewery beer menu. Kabunyan was MIA though. Must be lots going on in the Skyworld; he couldn’t join his friends to be in ‘pints’. =))
After a little sip from every glass, our order of fish tacos was delivered to the bar. I found it was a good board of tacos, good pita bread, crunchy fresh vegetable strips and succulent enough fishy cubes =D; when I finally figured out how to get a bite of it. (Ah messy … I really don’t know how to eat tacos.) I wanted the salsa to have an extra squeeze of lime and pinch of salt although we did finish it off.
By the time the buffalo wings arrived, Anne and I had made our choice of craft beers. She liked the Englishman in New York (sing it like Sting) best for its flavors … and that it wasn’t a turncoat/traitor/’salbahe’ like Message in A Bottle (Sting playlist!) . You might be able to read more on this from her blog, link here. =)
I zoned in on the strawberry beer, Lagud. I couldn’t get over how it smelled and tasted like sukang Iloko, fragrant, potent stuff! With another sprinkling of salt, might have worked as a dip for our buffalo wings.*hee But we were good with the sour cream and, and, and, that little dollop of cheesy sauce on the wings (take a look at the photo again. Yup, that one.) Another dollop, please.
As full as we were getting, (Anne and Race tried to explain to me how these types of beers were heavy. Something about the malt.) we got another plate of munchables, the German sausage. It was juicier than we all expected it to be and we liked it.
X marks Baguio Craft Brewery for good food in Baguio … and R and A mark it for good beers, too. (“,)
Tried their beers, lately? What did you guys think?
Food: for the buffalo wings and its zingy dollop of cheese/chili/lime sauce and
for everything else we ate.
Beers: Race’s rating He liked all the brewed varieties that Xavierbier’s got. (Got to hand it to them, too. They made me drink more than all my friends combined, goading me, could – halved the Lagud glass, man.)
Ambiance: We should’ve taken one of the barrel spots. I felt like I was going to fall off the high bar stools. Somebody got tipsy *heeharharhar … and just a heads up, this joint gets quickly crowded with happy beer drinkers.
Price (for the food specifically): They are a brewery, after all. Drink up, drink up, they’re saying.

Thanks for indulging, sis! Let’s do more food next time. This former drinker has lost her liquor mojo and gained more foodie power!
Hiyee there, Anne! Annnnnnd our list gets even longer wehehe. New places added that we need to check off. Whenever you’re ready! Big hugs! (“,)
Dark beer that has a caramelly aftertaste, i totally loved their Message in a Bottle. I also liked English Man in New York. I think it’s a brown ale, much like regular San Miguel in color, but i find it to be much crisper.
Hiyee there, Tina! Ohh, I understand even better now. There was that hint of caramel in Message in A Bottle. Must be why my friend said to be careful of that… the salbahe beer *hihi Thank you so much for the feedback. Happy Friday! (“,)
I vote for MIaB, too.
Hello! Thank you so much! Same vote as the wife. \m/ Have a wonderful day! (“,)
You went for the strawberry flavored beer, tasted like wine I assume? 🙂
Ahaha, yes. It was the least bitter of them all. (Nothing else to drink for me there =b) Mmm, vinegar-y, I could drink that *heeharharhar
(Thanks again, Tina, for the extra enlightenment. ^^,)
Thanks, Nickie! (“,)
i just tried 6 flavors, the strong ones. i like the dalom ata yon
if im not mistaken may pagka coffee ang taste nya.
message in a bottle is quite strong, pero ok din may tama agad 😉
Hello, Sir Don! Thank you for the feedback! Hhhmm, might try Message in A Bottle (in a bottle take home) again. Dami nyang fans wehehe. Happy Friday, Sir! (“,)
“Englishman” it has the right “kick” and taste that suits my tastebuds. Hihi
Hello, Ro! Looks like the Sting songs are raking it in. ^^, Thank you so much for your vote! Have a great Friday! (“,)
