UPDATE … to Tea Time at Cha Tien
An update post about my favorite tea shop is long overdue. It’s even more pressing that I post an update now when they’ve got more than Blueberry Alevosia and their other concoctions with a kick added to the menu. (Take note of that word, ‘kick’. I’m going to get back to that in a moment. =D)
There’s no doubt about it, there really is so much to look forward to in December. We’re five days into the month and I can still feel the aftereffects that Cha Tien caused me and my foodie blogging posse, Ane and Sam when Maam Jonalyn invited us to be the first to try their newest tea mixes. [They made their debut on the first of December. (Good news Cha Tien fans, they’re open on Sundays now.)]
What’s new on the menu? A LOT. =b

Another one from the fruit tea series, green apple and two from the Yakult series, tropical Yakult and lychee Yakult
You’re sure to find tea heaven in Cha Tien if you love fruity flavored teas and teas that are mixed with Yakult. We couldn’t get over how this tea was so fragrantly sweet (grape and green apple for me) and that tea became a double dose of healthy with the addition of live microorganisms (my picks: tropical and passion fruit).
We tasted so much in one sitting, I’m racking my brain for the ones that truly stood out. (Feels like I’m cramming for an exam *hee) Might be that I’d have to get myself a 700mL glass of each some time soon to really pick out my favorites from these two tea brackets. *hihi

Yakult teas – strawberry, passion fruit and green apple. They need a little bit of stirring but isn’t the ‘coagulation’ pretty?
Here’s an idea, if you like to get your Yakult fix daily for that “okay ka ba tiyan” feel. How’s about trying one kind from the Yakult series offering of this milk tea shoppe? Lychee flavored today, lemon tomorrow; it becomes more enjoyable drinking your lactobacillus spiked beverage. \m/
Speaking of spiked stuff, Blueberry Alevosia and Wild Temptation teas, the new additions to the menu in June 2013, have a little bugnay wine in them – tea with a kick number 1. Whoo! Don’t know if it’s shaken with the tea but who cares? Kampay! (in minion voice)
It’s not all about drinking at this milk tea shop. There are some munchables on the menu, too. Want a ham and cheese sandwich or tuna sandwich (P35 each)? How about something oriental like 5pcs siomai for P30 or a bowl of stir fried noodles (P45 S serving, P55 L serving) which you can season to taste with the variety of sauces within reach at your tea time table.
Just when we thought Cha Tien was done having served us 12 kinds of teas, more trays of drinks came out from behind the counter. I’m not certain what went into the chocolate Oreo cream puff but my, was that a full cream drink. So chocolate-y rich, we had to set our glasses aside after a sip. No, we’re not wasting it… it was so we could enjoy the creamy goodness at home. =)

Taho looking tea…
That proved to be a good move because the barrage of teas didn’t stop just yet. Wintermelon deluxe is wintermelon tea poured over the cheese mixture (for rock salt and cheese types). I drank the tea first and the cheese slid into my gob last. I remember thinking what a satisfying ending that was and imagined how much more fun it would be with the right sized glass. (But that would be for next time, since I/we were so full by this time. See my face go all red like a drunk. ^^, It seems like Ane, Sam and I with our prowess for binging have met our match in Cha Tien – tea with a kick number 2.)
On to the next blend. Rocky Road Delight is the owner’s very own creation and it’s one of my favorites … Race’s too. (Of course, he was tasting along with us. He also took care of our group shots. Thanksies, love. DDD.) Like melted ice cream, I was convinced it’s something I wanted in a large glass. Kudos, Maam Jonalyn! Keep on mixing! (Who knows what euphoric blends you’ll come up with next. Eeiii, how exciting!)
The next tea we got looked like an inverted version of wintermelon deluxe. With this, caramel flavored tea was topped with cheese. I liked drinking the cheese first but then thought with my most recent purchase that it tasted wonderful too when the cheese mixed in with the caramel. And that delightful aroma of caramel with the hint of saltiness from the cheese, drool fest.
Last but not the least, milk tea made specially for the holidays, choco peppermint cream puff. Again, it was just a sip of this we got and we took the rest of it home. I thoroughly took pleasure in this the next day. Even after being left in the fridge overnight, it was still flavorful, milky, and refreshingly minty. A definite must try for December … and every day of the holidays. *heehaha
What a night! A memorable tea time nightcap to an eventful day courtesy of Cha Tien. I’m still in milk tea heaven. (17 teas, man!) (“,)
(We’re so thankful for the invitation, Maam Jonalyn! More power to this Baguio born milk tea shop!)

Oreo cream puff, rocky road delight (with matching mallow topping), choco peppermint cream puff and foamy caramel; because we want some more, we want some more a day later.
