UPDATE: Green Pepper at the Ketchup Food Community

In the blog about the food establishments in the Ketchup Food Community, I left you sort of hanging with the TBD (to be determined) rating for Green Pepper gourmet stop.  It was not until the end of the year that a long time friend and I got to experience dining here.  Shout out to Anne! (“,)

UPDATE 03/26/2013 …scroll down to the bottom of this blog for a sneak peek of what’s changed.

Green Pepper entrance

Enter! Green Pepper! =)

Through the Ketchup Food Community gates and all the way to Green Pepper, I found the establishment to have the same set up it had as Circulo.  The only thing that changed is the color scheme of the place.  Keeping with the theme, its ‘walls’, its ceiling, the whole structure was painted green.  So yes, it’s still not a weather proof establishment.  (I’m still thinking about how they fare in stormy weather. *shyeew)  However, the rails (for the mezzanine and stairs) are sturdier now; the ‘balusters’ replaced with real ones.  It’s not just wires going crisscross (artistic although those were, it didn’t look safe), but real metal balusters.

Green Pepper scene

Circulo turned Green (Pepper) =D

My friend and I stood at their door for a moment since the store was packed.  We found ourselves a table that was in want of another chair and we waited some more until the staff was no longer busy to have a place to sit.

Finally…a place in Green Pepper. =b

From their Circulo menu, they have more to offer now as Green Pepper.  Giving themselves the title of a gourmet stop, they offered dishes like pasta arrabiata, grilled cordillera smoked chicken sandwich, eggs Benedict, terrine of chicken with pistachios, scones, vegetable napoleons, beef tenders in garlic demi-glace, etc.

Since my friend and I just came from dinner at Azotea Greens, we were looking for something light to munch on as we continued catching up on news about each other.  Initially, my friend wanted to try the eggs Benedict but then she saw the pancakes.  (Oh, she loves her pancakes. *hihi)  We got that for sharing with sweet basil tea and iced tea for drinks.  The iced tea was iced tea, Anne said.  My sweet basil tea was the contrary.  I think the characteristics of basil as a spice was just too strong for the water.  It was a refreshing choice for a beverage, though.  It was certainly different.  (“,)

Iced tea and the sweet basil tea that was quite contrary =))

As for our grub, it was a nice looking plate of misshapen pancakes topped with more than just fruit but fruit compote and a huge dollop of cream.  Slicing small pieces from the pancake, we realized that the fruit compote and the cream served a purpose…a very important purpose.  The pancake lacked fluff to deserve to be called a pancake.  It was more dry, flat bread with a hint of cinnamon (a flavor that was out of place).

Griddle cakes with fruit compote.  And the dollop tower of cream has fallen…

We capped the night off moving to Happy Tummy.  For what, you ask.  Their Happy pizzuki, of course! \m/ Happy Tummy has a new menu. =D And so we also got squid garlic.  Cooked to perfection, the squid was; not at all rubbery.  Weee!  It went well with the super zingy sauce.

Green Pepper Rating

Food: 2 treasure chests Specifically for the pancake.  Will have to try the other stuff on their menu (to see if I’m going to mark it as a spot for good Baguio food)…particularly, their eggs Benedict.  (Wah, what is it about me and eggs Benedict now? “Damn you, eggs Benedict!” =b)

Service: 3 treasure chests Ohh, the moments that went by when we stood at their door and when we were waiting for another chair… *sigh

Ambiance: 2 treasure chests “Weather weather” dining *hihi.  Keep your fingers crossed it doesn’t rain on your Green Pepper meal.

Price: 3 treasure chests
