Ze Creamery: O-hoh-hoh-hoh-hoh
*”laughing” in French
(Like subtitles: “Crying in Spanish” =b)
[Nothing to do with Christmas (Ho-ho-ho), that laugh, as I’m not in a X’mas mood just yet. I guess, this is one of those years where I’ll be stuck in a holidaze well after because we’re almost halfway into December and I still haven’t gotten into the spirit. *harhar)
So we’re here at Ze Creamery, a newly opened restaurant (one of the many, MAAANY opening their doors this December. Shyeew! I will do my utmost to get features on all of them before the year ends, so you’re in the know, my foodie friend. Bow to me, baby! *maniacal laugh)
Before we dig in, let’s talk about this resto’s name for a bit, shall we? “Ze”, we found out, doesn’t mean a thing at all to the owners of this food joint. They related to us that they used “Ze” for the simple reason that “The” was taken, and so was “La/Le”. (I know someone who would be extremely relieved, they didn’t use D’ in place of “the”. Kaway kaway to you. *hihi) There you have it, Ze Creamery. Which is also why I’ve got that French “laugh” for a title. Why don’t we go into ze reztaurant now and zee what we can have zere, eh?
Wiz a visit finally coming through, (Thanks, Elyx for the heads up on this restaurant!) I’ve researched enough to get my mind set on specific foodstuff like one of zeir burgers, ze funky shaped “pizza”, and probably some onion rings zat came neatly stacked on a (kitchen tissue) holder. Nothing thought off for drinks though, even with zis creamery being a creamery mainly because of zeir freak shakes and monster mug shakes. =D
Zeir beast mode burger was a dreeeam, wiz buns peppered generously wiz sesame seeds, sandwiched wiz BLT (bacon, lettuce, tomato), half a pound of pure beef patty, cheese, and egg. Race went whooo! wiz ze fries zat came wiz zis monster plate for it was a fried so well, zat it was crispy almost to ze inside and it had a sprinkling of quite a unique spice mix zat made ze vegetable taste both sweet as well as salty.
Looking at ze drinks menu, Race picked ze new product by Asia Brewery (he just read that info bite from the bottle), Brew Kettle. While not black like Cerveza Negra, he still enjoyed zis bottle enough to get another one. Like a Red Horse, he said, but less alc content. (I, more a drinker of vinegar, wouldn’t know anything about the taste and feel of beers in more detail, so there you go, from someone who does drink beer. =) ) I went for somesing warm in ze form of zeir red wine chocolate hottie drink. Milk based, it was just as Ms. C said choco drinks made only wiz milk would be: Luxurious. It also gets a one up on my favorite Vodka Mudshake because instead of bitter vodka, it has a dash of merlot in it. *sip ahh
Back to ze foodsies, it’s ze shape zat made ze pizza funky-different to me. Thinking it was hexagon/star shaped in photos I’ve seen, in reality, it’s more of a strip of dough twisted into a ‘ring’ with various pizza toppings. Ze hole in ze middle of it was space for some greens, stuffed in together wiz thick crunchy mojos (crunchy like banana chips) and a tomato sauce-y dip for them. (“,) Ze smell and taste was reminiscent of ze old Greenwich pizzas and I suspect ze sausage toppings was to credit for zat aroma and flaveur.
I’d totally forgotten about ze onion rings when Race saw it at another table, and he wondered out loud what zose “donuts” were. Oh, my, zat was a huge onion zey used for our pica pica. ^^, Truly, a big bite, I felt a little like Shrek. Though scant, ze tartar sauce earned praise from my brother who got a taste of half of zese onions (with most of the sauce on it) zat we took home.
X marks Ze Creamery for good food in Baguio. O-hoh-hoh-hoh-hoh, we’re lovin’ ze food ‘ere.
Service:
Ambiance: A nondescript space with wall/post features here and there for cozy nooks to hide behind. =)) (Me likey!) I must say, it’s quite refreshing to see a simple dining area these days. The food is the only star here; no sensory overload.
