A Swinging Good Time at The Nook Kitchen & Pub (at LeFern Hotel II)
“Creak-creak”,
… the swing for a dining chair I had at the inhouse restaurant of the newest branch of LeFern Hotel went.
Well, not really. (It was a quiet swing) Effect lang. =))
I just mega relished in the moment of being on a swing again since I haven’t been on one in a long time and also, before we actually got here, Race and I were taken for a ride (literally) in the name of the food quest. The original plan was to check another resto off our list but they took the day off. Closed doors means no go. *heehaha We then drove to Le Fern Hotel … their first branch. (Yan kasi, not paying attention … lots of issues that need extensive reading is still my defense. =b)
So we arrived at LeFern II. With a quick glance at the menu (while swinging lazily to and fro), the arugula salad notation jumped out at us, it sounded extremely intriguing. For the love of arugula, we got that. These earthy greens were served with lettuce strips, bellpepper slices, onions, olives, and cherry tomatoes, topped with a tomato sauce looking dressing, that made it altogether a unique salad. =)
I asked the friendly Chef Leo about that when he checked up on us at the end of our meal and he told us it was a sundried tomato dressing. (Hindi kasi nagbabasa. That little tidbit was on the menu. *hee) Ooohh, fun. He related too that he added some sugar to it to cut its sourness and saltiness. Now, the unsugared version is haunting my thoughts. I’m thinking that might suit my taste buds just fine if it’s anything like Filippo Berio’s sun dried tomato pesto (I use that mostly for pasta or bruschetta). ^^, You know, Ms. Salty, and Drinker of Vinegar here.
When we were done with the salad, my mushroom with alfalfa pasta was delivered to the table. Right, I got that because of the alfalfa. And also i wanted to say ‘farfalle’ … that pretty bow shaped pasta. *tee hee Tossed in a white creamy sauce were different kinds of mushrooms. There were strips of oyster mushrooms and I think the dark ones were straw mushrooms. (They didn’t taste shiitake to me. Or maybe they were just button? No matter, all edible mushrooms are equal in our eyes and we love all of them.) I wanted to get a dash of salt in there but I could live with how it was. That was a nice plate of white sauce pasta. =D
It took a while for our pizza to be ready and so the staff gave us some potato chips to pass the time with. (I didn’t really notice because … yiiis, swinging.) Perfectly cooked chips, these were, with a good sprinkling of parmesan cheese.
When the pizza finally arrived, I was surprised to find huge beef strips on it. That, I intentionally didn’t read the description on and what a nice little astonishing detail to discover. Pulling up a slice, it seemed a bit top heavy in that we couldn’t eat it by hand. The pizza went limp and the toppings sort of slid down from it, like a regular pizza that then turns uber beef-y in the parts where the beef pieces were present. *nomnom

Chillin’ and swingin’ with a bottle of Cerveza Negra. *hihi
Not a bit of the pizza was left as we swung and ate and swung and ate. While already a tad full, we still had room enough for dessert so we got baklava.
The Nook version was a deconstructed, collapsed tower of filo pastry with fruits like apples, mush banana, and ripe mango puree inserted here and there under the pile. The filling called to my mind the cream in cream puffs but with a fruity twist. It also was like the filling in brazo but not eggy. Race had in mind, bavarian cream.
X marks The Nook Kitchen & Pub for good food in Baguio. So happy eating and swinging, I didn’t want to leave our nook at The Nook resto.
Service: We felt really taken care of at this Kitchen. “Water? Here, you are.” “Have some chips while you’re waiting for your pizza.” “Salt? You might also want some extra parmesan. ” “We’d gladly take your photo for you.” They turned on all the dining area lights when I was taking a photo of it. Thank you so much, all, at The Nook LeFern!

Because I loved it so much on this swing dining chair, here’s our photo again. =)) (And, also, I’m doing some sort of an experiment.)

Hello there, Mario! First to comment, hooray!
It sure was fun swinging and eating at The Nook Kitchen & Pub. We were long finished with our meal and I didn’t want to get off the swing. =b Sadly, it’s just one table that has the swing chairs. Go to LeFern Hotel II early. *hihi
The brown tile art is a fox. Took me some time to get what it was too. (“,)
Nagiisnow pala sa blog mo!! Akala ko naokray na si laptop ko

Hi, just go through the doors where the reception is and there’s a staircase to the side, The Nook Kitchen and Pub is one floor down. Seemed like we wee headed to the basement the way the staircase looks there.*hihi
LeFern II’s lobby is a bit small but the resto is there, under the reception floor. I hope you have a swinging good time at The Nook! (“,)
