Lolita Bistro Cafe: Sugar and Spice and Everything Nice

To another whimsically decorated resto that transports its diners to another world with the pieces they placed in and around their dining area.

Baguio Lolita Bistro Cafe menu

Recently, Race and I have been so busy eatsploring on the other side of our fair city to really know what’s going on over at Leonard Wood, and it’s through the Fallarme foodie family that we got wind of this food store stuffed with stuffed toys. =D

X, one with the cuddly toys.

Walking through the doors of the newest restaurant at Mount Tepeyac Residences, it took a lot of effort from me to concentrate only on the menu because … I was excited to go around the dining area to look at the small (and huge) knickknacks and take photos (but, of course). =b [UPDATE 05/30/2017: Lolita MOVED TO A NEW LOCATION – Old Orangewood Bed & Breakfast 20 Gomez St., Lower P. Burgos (Thanks to our new found friend Lyka, for this info bite)] Also, with Lolita restaurant starting their daily operations as early as 9:00 a.m., I didn’t think my tummy was fully awake to take in something heavy. We settled on one of the burgers and one dish from the main course selection. We also picked out some drinks, and I finally got to go full on butterfly in Lolita Cafe, flitting and floating and posing here and there.

Having unicorn hot chocolate in a My Melody cup amidst the My Melody cuddly toys, and Rilakkuma shake

My unicorn hot choco was the first to arrive at our table. A milky light taste of a drink for the most part, but the first sip I took that had whipped cream, some strawberry ripple, and a bite of the candy star gave it a fruity flavor. I half wondered if they forgot to put the choco mix in my My Melody cup, but anyhoo. ^^, Race got himself the Lolita’s signature shake, Rilakkuma. Like my beverage, its coffee flavor was mild too.

Kiiroitori burger. Cuuutie!

With the top bun made to look like Rila, it seems my better half had a Rilakkuma theme going on for brunch. The whiff we got of it reminded us a lot of Miwishayu burgers. This was a well enough made chicken burger that made Race’s breakfast time a blast. \m/

Moving to one of the tables outside [because somebody was worried and afraid of possible mishaps involving the (mostly) Sanrio soft toys around *hee], we got a nice view of Leonard Wood from our lofty table. The morning sun rays shining on patches of the outdoor dining area made the foliage around look greener and the sky above look bluer. *taking a sip of unicorn milk. Ahh, quiet pretty morning.

For the cabbage rolls entree, I already had a picture in my mind of wraps but using a different kind of leafy veg like from one of the resto bars we visited a couple years back. I was right. (“,) Three nice and sturdy rolls full of ground meat were served, topped with salsa that had a jalapeno kick. In some way, this dish got more watery as we focused on the other munchies and drinkables on our table, and the once sturdy rolls warranted a fork to eat properly … and then needed a sprinkling of salt. (Ms. Salty, present!) Nothing that a squirt of ketchup couldn’t fix. *tapping my temple

Looking at the menu in between bites, the pudgy breakfast surprise came as an afterthought as Race was uber amazed by its price. It’s a simple dish really but packs a punch in taste. One can never go wrong with bacon. Add scrambled eggs and cheese inside this panini like breakfast selection, a great way to start the day. Made in a pudgy pie iron, it was supposed to be eaten with a spoon, but the barbarian in me won over, so I ate it like a regular sandwich. =)

With further inspection of the Lolita foodlist, my eyes fell upon the words “mushroom fries”. “For the big fan of fries and mushrooms“, it said. “So amazingly good”, it continued. SOLD … to the lady with the wide eyed look and jaw about to drop to the floor! =)) Deep fried strips of oyster mushrooms made even crispier with a bit of flour coating, they were right in saying, this is one addictive appetizer. Partnered with a soy and vinegar/mirin sauce dip, I wanted to get another order.

I was expecting to just get something from the bistro cafe that would hold us while we ran errands till lunchtime, but we got a substantial enough meal from Lolita’s. Nice going, guys!

I’d be willing to keep on coming back to Mount/Chalet Tepeyac Lolita Cafe to also visit this live furry huggable, Lucy the St. Bernard (and her young Chow Chow friend; I didn’t get his name). She was there to greet us at the parking lot and there to see us off. Mascot(s) of  Tepeyac? *hihi

My friends and I went here before I saw this post. It was so crowded so we left. No place to sit anymore 😦

Hello. Aww, sad to hear you didn’t get to cross this resto at Mount Tepeyac Residences off your list yet.

We did come upon Lolita Bistro Cafe packed with people one time too. That was something like past 5:00 p.m. To get material for this post, we arrived a little after they opened (9:00 a.m.), so we were probably their first customers for the day. Breakfast at Lolita’s might be a good idea. You can occupy any spot you like and on a nice day, it’s fun to sit at one of their tables outside.

Happy dining at Lolita when you come visiting again. Thanks so much for visiting the blog. (“,)

A very valid point. My friend was just there with her daughter and she did say she had her guard up the whole time. *hihi

I hope you and the family are doing great! Enjoy Lolita whenever it is you come to dine! (“,)
