Manna Garden Cafe, Revisited (an UPDATE)
A looong overdue update. *hihi Whew, would you believe, it’s been two years since our last visit to Manna? … and don’t I know it, and don’t you know it, there’s been a ton of big changes in the garden cafe since then. (Hooray for growth and improvement!) (I’ll say again, a very dynamic industry. Meanwhile, there’s all these restos opening up in every other inch of Baguio that’s keeping me and my foodie lovies’ chompers real busy.)

My kind of bouquet. (“,) Moist chocolate cake so tasty, you could also eat it by itself, buttercream icing so buttery but not annoyingly so, and that momentary jolt of intense dark choco from fragments of the lace wall.
First off, Kharis Cafe and Bakeshop. It’s made itself, to me, like a bakeshop to contend with what with its uber beautiful, uber delicious buttercream cake. The first time I saw it on their FB page, I fell in love! (“… too good to be true, can’t take my eyes off of you.”♪ ♫ and all that … um … blue-eyed soul/pop, according to Wiki) While I kept thinking Bakakeng takes a lot of effort to get to, this beaut threw all my excuses out the window.
To make the most of our trip, we also tried what the new concessionaires at this little food community had to offer. For the savory stuff, it was up to Eats Trio Alpha as well as Wok This Way. (Menus here.) (There used to be Kusina ni Tito Onong serving budget home cooked meals, e.g. karekare, on our first Manna Garden visit of 2016 but they’ve since moved to Arc Residences beside Ozark Diner.)
Our appetizer of quesadillas from Eats Trio Alpha and the nasi goreng stir fry rice that Race love, love, loves so much, were washed off with Kharis’ beverage selection. The choco peppermint frappe was mine; a light and refreshing minty taste (that my brother sure wouldn’t comment on as tastes like toothpaste =b) and for Race, a cup of Americano coffee, of which, we were told (still) comes from Cosy’s Cafe and Roasterie. Yey!
I didn’t want to dig into the blossom topped buttercream cake just yet, as I wanted to get more photos of it at home, and so Ms. Tina offered us a slice of the other cakes available at the bakeshop (Kharis Cafe menu here). Sans rival (definitely, a more refined version in comparison to Sizzling Plate‘s; I relished in the chewy bits sticking to my teeth *snickers), almond espresso sans rival (sans rival with a coffee twist for those who couldn’t get enough of a caffeine fix from their drinks), tiramisu and to go, the dark-y and melt in your mouth, chocoholic’s muse. ^^, (Thank you, Ms. Tina for the taste! Like addicts for your cakes, we are now … like addicts. *heeharhar)
As soon as the last slice of butter cream cake was consumed in our home, all the Kharis cakes started haunting my dreams (didn’t I say, we’re like addicts now?) and so I placed an order, this time, for a whole choco mousse (that melts like ice cream in your mouth) to be picked up at the Bakakeng garden cafe again … because someone was craving for Wok This Way’s goreng, mixed in with so many pieces of meat, tasty fried rice under a scrabbled egg blanket. =D
Since this second visit of 2016 turned out to be early din-din, I picked something more substantial from Eats Trio Alpha: The curiosity inducing, wet burrito.
While I got a bit unsettled that it took some time to get to our table, when it arrived, I was fully appeased. Drenched in an awesome striped design of honey mustard and hot sauce, this tortilla stuffed with flavorful fried rice (had images of Indian fried rice in my mind from the aroma that made its way to my face and tickled my nose), cubes of bell pepper and tomato, shreds of lettuce, and pieces of meat, made this a memorable dinner. (“,)
To cap it all off (and also to quell the heat from the burrito), Race got another cup of Americano coffee; this time with two shots of espresso (the perfect mix, he’s whispering in the background as I type this), Tablea hot choco for me (because even if it was sort of a hot day, the ‘real feel‘ temperature didn’t seem to have a fighting chance in Bakakeng, in this delightfully treed, zen scene).

The garden cafe from behind the water feature.
We had the mini cheesecakes, one topped with lemon and the other with blueberry, for dessert. Another surprising sensation, as I never knew that cheesecake could melt in your mouth like chocolate with a tinge of zingy cheese.

A whole chocoholic’s muse for snackage this week. \m/ An incredible melt-in-your-mouth sensation with every forkful. At home, we all go, “where’d it go?” a few seconds after a piece of it is in our mouths, like it’s ice cream.
Again, X marks Manna Garden Cafe for good food in Baguio. A heavensent haven, not just for students now, but FOR EVERYONE who loves to eat good food.
There will surely be a third, a fourth, a fifth … to infinity visits here, a favorite eating place. Bakakeng, you’re just my backyard now. =))
Food: for Eats Trio Alpha and Wok This Way. I’m giving Kharis desserts, a

Do they really have a KFC inside Manna?
Hello there! Yes, they do. I didn’t really study the menu they have in their stall, but I gathered it was the basic chicken stuff: bucket of chicken, 1pc, 2pc, etc. (“,)
Parang ang sarap naman nun burrito.
Hi there! It’s as good as it looks, with a kick too. *hihi I’ll definitely be ordering Manna Garden Cafe Eats Trio Alpha’s wet burrito again. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did whenever it is, you plan to try it. (“,)
