UPDATE: Pancake House Baguio – NEW on the Menu
Welcome home to Pancake House. =)
We’re back, my foodie friends, to the comfort and familiarity of home but this time, with a pleasant surprise. We’re trying the newest offers on this season’s menu which includes homegrown specialties.
“Homegrown specialties”, such intriguing words. Which of these would be star ingredients in some of Pancake House’s new dishes, we wondered. Our guesses were: Strawberries and ube. =b We were right with one, surprised with the other. It never occurred to us, it would be Highland legumes coated in hard sugar candy.
Peanut brittle. =))
Baguio crunch salad is a refreshing salad. It tasted like summers gone by. *ahhh, mem’ries. A wonderful combination of leafy greens, pulpy orange chunks, crunchy pear cubes, juicy strawberry halves, crumbly peanut brittle, tossed in strawberry dressing.
It’s a no brainer there’s going to be Pancake House’s signature fluffy light pancakes with the homegrown specialties twist. Strawberry brittle pancakes is topped with fresh strawberries and a dollop of cream. (The way the topping was constructed reminded me of a mini strawberry shortcake. *hihi cute)
It doesn’t stop there, this plate of hotcakes is sprinkled with peanut brittle pieces. A little switcheroo in texture in your forkful, think Pop Rocks. =b Just like the peach pancakes/waffles, this is served with strawberry flavored syrup for good measure. I poured that whole tiny pitcher of it on the pancakes and surprisingly, it didn’t become overly sweet.
Being the generous host Pancake House is, they gave us the opportunity to pick out other things from their smorgasbord of yummy stuff. One of the recent additions to the savory side of the menu (outside the metro Baguio homegrown specialties offer) is pan grilled pork belly. Seasoned with Cajun spice, served with corn and carrots, and your choice of mashed potato or rice, it’s a mighty tasty dish that Race enjoyed. ^^, Together with this, we got another salad = our all time Pancake House fave, warm bacon potato salad.
All the foodstuff was washed off with the newest drink on the menu: Strawberry tea smoothie. I’m always in awe when a smoothie doesn’t have milk in it. You’ve got to admit, sometimes, milk just acts as a kind of ‘extender’. With this beverage, you see and then taste how packed with strawberries it is. \m/ A revitalizing … addicting drink, for sure. Truly, #itsnotthatcomplicated to get a #cravingsatisfied. Just walk through the threshold of any Pancake House store and let them take care of you. (“,) (I did plan to go to Mountain Grown to get veggies for a home salad but I didn’t think I needed it after this product launching.)
