‘Tradisyon-al’ Breakfast Dining Experience at Tradisyon Coffee Shop
Tradisyon, simply translates in English as tradition. By definition, this is a long established custom that has been passed on from one generation to the next.
At Tradisyon Coffee Shop, they didn’t just offer us traditional fare (Pinoy comfort food as they like to call it =D) for our breakfast buffet. Actually, they had a wide range of options for us that day (pancake, eggs, vegetables with dressing choices of Caesar dressing or strawberry dressing, fresh fruit slices, loaf bread and various jams, etc.). What I meant by a traditional experience relates to the kind of service we got from this establishment.
Filipinos are known for being a hospitable and warm bunch of people. That’s just what I saw and felt dining here. (“,) (And here I thought, the pure and true Philippine hospitality is dead.)
It didn’t just start when we walked through the doors of Azalea Residences but a day before when I made the reservation. I found their contact details online and inquired about their buffet offering through text and Facebook email. I didn’t have to wait a long time for a response because Azalea called me. The representative on the line answered all my questions about the breakfast buffet; when it opens, how much it costs, etc.
It opens at 7 a.m. and it’s worth P500 per person, she said. She also informed me that the buffet was based on hotel occupancy meaning if there weren’t that many guests at a given time, there wouldn’t be any breakfast buffet. Just to be sure that there was a buffet on my chosen date, we ended the call while she checked. She called me back a couple of minutes later and our reservation was made.
We arrived at Azalea before Tradisyon opened. We took some pictures around their lobby and also checked out what was offered at their 8 Degrees Longue. The attendant welcomed us to the coffee shop when breakfast was ready and he set about making us comfortable while telling us about the selection that day. They didn’t have that big a spread of breakfast eats but that was alright. (Makes it easier to sample everything they had to offer. =b) I tried their juices (regular juice powder mix =D) and I was also poured a cup of hot choco by the friendly attendant. Oh, hoho, creamy yummy – almost like the one served at Le Chef.

salad with two choices of dressing (strawberry dressing, can you believe it? =D) and the Tradisyon breakfast spread
Race then went for their salad and I started with their mami. (A good choice for a cold and storymy day. My, was that comforting!) We then put rice, daing, tocino, burger steak, sardines and also garlic spinach in our plates. The spinach was delicious! (I wonder if it was categorized as an appetizer because when I got a taste of it, I was rearing to go on eating. (“,)) We also got an omelet prepared from the egg station. I called it the everything-but-the-kitchen-sink omelet. ^^, The attendant referred to it as the all -in omelet. He also had fluffy pancakes prepared for us. We finished the meal off with fresh fruit. These were well picked. (Gotta love that attention to detail.) Every slice was sweet and ripe and scrumptious. \m/
X marks Tradisyon Coffee Shop for good food (and first class, true Filipino service) in Baguio.
If you find yourself at Azalea Residences (like we were in a sudden downpour ^^,) but you’re not really craving for anything to eat, you can treat yourself to a glass or two of the refreshing drinks offered at the 8 Degrees Lounge. While sitting in their comfy chairs reading the paper or a magazine, you can sip fruity shakes and chocolate-y coolers there. They’re a little bit on the pricey side so make sure you really want it (so you can avoid buyer’s remorse. *heehaha).
