BabaChon: The Home of Davao Style Lechon in Baguio
I’m baaack.
I meant for that to sound more like the line from 1996’s Independence Day movie than a horror film. *hihi I trust this new month’s going well and that you’re having a fun-tastic time in your food quests, my foodie friends.

Doing the joke husky face in front of the lechon stall … that is, if you can see through the pop art design =b
This July, our first post is going to be putting the spotlight on the take-out restaurant that Sir Albert of Ozark gave us a heads up about: The Home of Davao Style Lechon, BabaChon. (Thank you, Sir!)
When we first swung by the lechon stall, it was already evening and so most of the foodstuff they had to offer was either sold out or we had to wait for the new batch to be done roasting. The quickest one we could get was the basic Davao’s pride lechon liempo. =D
While I couldn’t quite put my finger on what spices these were that they used to make this Davao style, every bite was delicious with juicy delectable meat. *nomnomnom The family sized serving was a big enough size too, that between Race, my brother and me, we still had some left for the next day. \m/
A month passed before we could make another visit to Babachon and since then, they’ve made some changes to their menu. (I’ll maintain the interest of getting my chompers around the stuffed lechon pata if that ever makes a comeback. *hee) This time, we went for the single orders with rice. The chili garlic version lechon liempo was true to its name with it having a little spicy kick to the taste of the meat. The garlic flavor was a tad faint in comparison, but that’s all right. ^^,
Aside from pork, there’s lechon manok available at Babachon, too. Whilst it had a powerful scrumptious aroma that made my furry lovies whine like crazy =b, and it even stuck to my fingers when I tore shreds of it, I found the meat to be a bit dry. I wished I could fall back on the cucumber salad but alas, no such salad was packed with our orders then. *hee
Movin’ on. =)) To a lechon viand that went such a long way with heaps of rice, the crispy sinigang. Oh my, was that tasty! And those juicy veggies, wee! Definitely, a favorite from the lot.
The liempo-sig that we got with one egg mixed in (add P15 for that) was another flavorful ulam/pulutan that X+1+1 relished … to the point of eating the little pieces of meat one by one to make the enjoyable eating moment last longer. =b
Meanwhile, I’m still trying to figure out the spices in Baba Chon’s Davao style roasted treats … It might be that that will forever be a mystery to me, but if there’s one thing I’m sure of, it’s that I’ll be back to Babachon for more. (“,)
