Every Day is ChEAT Day at this Baguio Resto
“Cheat day every day”, the perfect motto for those on a …
… “see food” diet. And boy, did we do justice to those words when I came upon this new Baguio restaurant’s Facebook page while doing a Google search. We saw that, that, and that on their menu and we got exactly those dishes on the actual visit.
The drinks, we didn’t really plan on and just picked out what called to us when our attendant asked what we’d like for refreshments. While good ideas, these drinks didn’t really bring us all the way to a ‘sip ahh‘ feeling.
I wished the cinnamon in my Coke wasn’t so fine, it floated and clung to the edges of the glass as my soda went down. (Made me wonder all of a sudden what Chef Babes used in the cookhouse iced tea because that was dispersed well enough in the drink and sank to the bottom later. Hmm.) Race’s mokhang coffee called for the peanut butter twist to be infused more into the drink. Maybe if it was pre-made with hot coffee, these two ingredients would meld well together? (Double hmm.)
The issues with the drinks stopped nagging at us the instant we got our food. First up, the pad Thai looking pancheat. It was uber delish even if we didn’t squash and distribute the meat of the longanisa around yet. Cheers also to perfect consistency egg noodles and veggies. \m/ I wanted for some acidity (of calamansi) at one point but that was also completely forgotten with the arrival of the other dishes.
At first bite of one of the potato chips that came with the longa-burger, I noted how crunchy and like chips from a pack they were. With diluted cheese drizzling falling only on some chips, I thought of asking for more salt. Which is just what the patty, made out of more Cabanatuan longanisa, contributed to the dish. The thickest slice of cheese in a burger I’ve ever seen also added to this boost in flavor I was looking for. *tee hee
Again, the sunny side up added more oomph to the textures as well as the taste of the whole burger. (Careful in taking this in your hands and taking a bite out of it, my foodie friends. Before my better half could even react, egg yolk was running down his arm. *hee Gigil na gigil kumagat =b )
With Race hogging the pansit plate, it was just me, myself and the crispy pata value meal. ^^, Looking at the protein on the plate, I assumed it was over crispy and bone dry but oh, did slicing into it and getting to where there was fat and cartilage proved me wrong. The cartilage actually became edible in the mega hot deep fry that I chewed away without getting the least bit of resistance from it. The soy sauce mix was a dream in cutting the chest tightening feeling from all this gluey fat. An onion ring or two also reinforces that relief. Shyeew.
The crispy pata happiness didn’t end there. We had lots of bones to take home to our furry lovies. (“,) Did they have a field day with those or what?
X marks ChEAT Day Resto for good food in Baguio. When everything’s this good, it’s easy to throw a diet (not unless it’s “see food”) out the window and have a cheat day every day.
Food: Added to my list of favorite Baguio eating places.
Ambiance: Another nicely decorated space but pretty cramped. While there are about three additional tables good for three out on their equally narrow balcony, movability can quickly become a challenge when the establishment is full, I imagine.
Meanwhile, someone from upstairs kept tossing water (not their diets =)) ) out their window without so much as a “garde l’eau!” Not a very good distance too, so the water fell on the roof without a gutter above us and dripped almost to our side. We had to move our table a couple inches away just to ensure our grub doesn’t get splashed by “what-was-that-used-for?!!” liquid.
To the lady diner sitting at the next table, I overheard your concern for us; we are a-okay and your concern is very much appreciated. *hihi
