On A High at Ramen Sora
Annnd just like that, the Duncan Sheik song is playing in my head as the soundtrack to the writing of this post. *hihi

Ramen Sora from the sidewalk across the building, snippets of the dining area, condiments (chili oil and soy sauce) and a cup of hot tea.
It seems we have a theme going with the newest restaurants opening its doors to the dining public in our beloved food trip city, Baguio City, this May. =)
Enter Ramen Sora … that from grand opening two days ago, the other side of the City of Pines has also turned Japanese.
With the downpours we regularly have in the afternoons, as well as with the rainy wee hours of Friday, there’s no better time for the warming filling comfort of noodle dishes. Let’s get it from a place with a huge reputation of making “ramen one can’t live without“, shall we? (No need to go so far like to Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan’s culinary center. \m/) As soon as we walked through Ramen Sora doors, the staff lined behind at counter/kitchen greeted us in unison (in Japanese).
While the ramen‘s being prepared, let’s whet our appetites with a roll. (Ramen Sora website menu here.) Something I’ve never tried before, combi fire, a roll stuffed with rice, salmon and tuna and then deep fried. Oh, that was fun to eat! =D The exterior got crunchy in the frying and inside, it’s a mushy mix of fish flavors. (Gotta love the chopsticks that had a rough finish on the tips, too. It sure made it easier for me to get the tasty stuff into my gob. *heehaha)
Like a lechon kawali rice on steroids, I relished every spoonful of the pork chashu, bits of tasty tender meat from lean to fat and a scrumptious oil that mixed nicely with the rice. ^^,
Aha, our deluxe “sora” miso ramen is here! With nori, menma (fermented bamboo shoots), golden noodles, hot rich nutty sweet soup, and huge slices of the soft delish pork chashu, this was a taste explosion of a bowl. =)
In hindsight, Race and I thought we should’ve gone with a salt based (shio) soup this visit since everything else we got had a ton of flavor. We got a tad umay after a couple slurps of the broth. (using the soup spoons that had a small innovation which allowed us to ‘hang’ it on the rim of the bowl when not in use and so it doesn’t slide and sink into the ramen. Nice!)
Good thing, our attendant was pretty perceptive and when he noticed, was quick to give us cups of hot tea. For our part, to counter that suya, X+1 tripped on the pickled ginger slivers that came with our combi fire makizushi and continued on stuffing ourselves till nothing was left of every dish.
X marks Ramen Sora for good food in Baguio. ♫♪ On a high, on a high ♫ … from our delicious meal in the ramen sky. (“,)
Ambiance: While everything looked nice inside this ramen resto, I found the tables to be sort of bulky in the small space. That made it hard to move around … and move around, a lot, I did, then. *snickers (There is additional seating outside, on the balcony and diners can also cross order sitting in Gerry’s Grill dining.)
