Notable Edibles #17 – Matcha Spread by Junia Collective
Let’s squeeze in a little notable edible feature amid these newly opened restaurant posts, shall we? This one goes out especially to green tea lovers in food trip city, Baguio City. \m/
Junia Collective Matcha Spread
I found an actual matcha spread! (Not mixed in with peanut butter.) In truth, it’s the green tea ‘jam’ that found me. (Thank you so much for reaching out, Ms. Josephina. =) ) Getting the link to their Facebook page, Junia Collective, I didn’t hesitate, nor skip a beat from placing my order for two nice hexagon shaped jars of the green stuff. (P240 a 180 gram jar)
While waiting for the meet-up date to come, (they’re made fresh, you see, with Uji matcha powder from Kyoto, Japan. All natural ingredients. Preservatives and artificial coloring: Nada, zilch-o), I brainstormed what I could use this on. Cue: Things that make you go hhmm. ♪ ♫
When I finally got the loot, my brother and I got our first taste, heaped in one teaspoon for me, one teaspoon for my brother. Right then and there, he decided, he liked this green tea concoction just the way it is – made Japanese style: Mild. ^^,
While one would have to have a super strong sense of taste and/or savor every bit of it to really taste the green tea, we speculated that if the flavorings were any stronger, it could end up tasting bitter or worse, tasting like seaweed. (The thought of a seaweed like beverage, bleh and *shudder, shudder)

The opened jar has less than half in it. Apologies, but I’ve already been at this matcha spread before I had the opportunity to take photos for the blogpost. =))
I still tried to smear this in between some dinner rolls … ahm, dinner squares, I mean (Says so on the packaging *heehaha) as well as topped a dollop on vanilla ice cream. Mixed with ice cream, it gave the plain dessert a bit of oomph. =D In bread, it wasn’t quite like Arce Diary green tea flavored ice cream but I did get a vibe like I was eating sorbetes in a hamburger bun (Pinoy Bizarre Foods), minus the cool to the tongue feel, because Junia Collective’s matcha spread is just that: So well made that it feels like cream sans the ice, and really more than a spread. On to my next jar! Papak, man! =b

Another matcha product. Thanx yoiu for finding and informing us about your food finds on this blog.
Hello there, Benny! Yes, little by little we’re seeing more of matcha flavored stuff. We have the people at Junia Collective to thank; they found me and told me about their matcha spread product.
I hope your green tea-loving wife enjoys this as much as me, and my brother, and Race did … as a little dessert, a dollop on a teaspoon. *hihi You might find other ways to enjoy the spread, do tell me about it if you do. Thank you so much for visiting the blog! (“,)
Bongga matcha spread. Gandara rin ng name ng online store. Kaso di ko bet mga green tea green tea. Panggift siguro sa christmas. Sino ba kilala ko na love ang matcha??

Aww you no likey green tea, try a bit of this, maybe this is just what would turn you to the … green side(?) *heehaha
Gift for a matcha lover, fantastic idea. I hope whoever you give jars of matcha spread to will enjoy it as much as we did in our home. (“,) Thank you and thank you as always!
