Beefy Homecooked Greats at Bakareta Restaurant

We’re back …

La Trinidad metro Baguio Bakareta Restaurant bakareta

Bakareta ^^,

And back to basics with carinderia grub. \m/

Bakareta Cafe and Restaurant, La Trinidad was a contingency plan for us if we didn’t find the Japanese restaurant in the midst of the Strawberry Farm.

X+1 in the La Trinidad metro Baguio Bakareta Restaurant

Us and the Bakareta La Trinidad dining area background

As you know, we did well in that food quest so we shelved Bakareta eatery for another day. One of the chilly January days was the day. Without having to look at the menu, we knew what we wanted. Bakareta’s bakareta was darker than I expected it would be and devoid of veg *hihi, but every flavorful part of it was spot on, and with tender beef slices to boot. X+1 munched on without a pause to keep the sebo from catching up with us. =b

Baguio Mang Ed Bakareta Cafe and Restaurant complimentary bulalo soup starters

Little bowls of bulalo soup for starters =D

Mang Ed Bakareta being a carinderia, served a side soup (bulalo) with our meal, that was scorching hot. Whenever my spoon got streaked with hardened oil, I just dipped into my small bowl, took a sip and my spoon looked shiny, like newly washed again. *harhar

Bistek (“,)

Seeing that this eatery at our friendly neighbor’s was going to have a branch in the City of Pines, it became our plan B for when we weren’t successful with a Cafe Orillo (reco left as a comment on our restaurant list) food adventure yesterday. After a long, cold, fog covered, and then soak-y drive to Irisan (me miscalculating and mai-aw-wan again *hee), we had to turn back to the city. (Fingers crossed, Race and I don’t get the sniffles or any sickness from that ride. Gee whiz.)

Baguio Mang Ed Bakareta Cafe and Restaurant pinapaitan papaitan

Pinapaitan =)

After a quick peek in all the pots laid out at the Bakareta BARP Building (same place where the wonderful sisig is) counter, we picked bistek and pinapaitan.  Of course, we started with complimentary soup that we eagerly sipped to warm our shivering-me-timbering bodies. ^^,

Again, we got tender beef pieces, this time, swimming in savory, zingy corn starch (in a good way here =D) thickened sauce. How we loved every minute eating every bit of that.

Turning things around in terms of taste, was the bowl of papaitan. It had in it a variety of insides. Hooray for lots of tuwalya meat pieces! =) Race said, this was one of the best beef innards stews he’s ever had.

Hi, Mario! Just ran out of mojo, been featuring stuff like hell since December =b

*heehaha Yes, back to carinderia/eatery home cooked pocket friendly food with Mang Ed Bakareta Restaurant opening in Baguio.

The Benguet thing, *wink wink goes out to the anonymous one making a fuss that I said “La Trinidad, metro Baguio” in one feature post, totally disregarding the resto address I put in at the end of the posts that says “La Trinidad, Benguet”. Weh.

Anyway. Thank YOU, Mario, for the constant support! (“,)

Grabeeee!!!! I saw the location of that Cafe Orilla you mentioned and its hella far. You rode through fog and rain??!!!! If I remember it correctly you ride a motorcycle dont you? Your devotion to bringing news to us about places to eat here in Baguio City is very commendable. Award!!! I really hope you didn’t get sick from that ride.

Hello! Yes, we get around by motorcycle and yes, that was really a long (my butt surely thought it was *heehaha), cold and drenched ride, and to have to turn back … You win some, you lose some, eh? I really appreciate the concern. Race and I are doing a-okay, so far, no sign of the sniffles or any kind of sickness.

We were really glad for the warmth and comfort of the sustenance at Bakareta eatery. I hope you enjoy it there as much as we did when you find yourselves in Bakareta! Thank you so much again! (“,)
