Kalapaw Boodle Fight: Are You Ready to Rrrumbllle?
February. It’s the most happening month in Baguio City \m/ (apart from the December holiday season when the City of Pines gets busy again with people coming up in the hopes of getting the xmas spirit, if only through the cool climate.) One of the biggest events this month is the PMA homecoming. Ten-hut!
(Welcome back, alumni! (“,))

Boodle fight for two. Kalapaw fried rice, nilasing na hipon, grilled liempo (animal protein, winning!), garlic okra (I liked this one a lot) and a deliciously saucy fish or meat viand whose name escapes me. *hee
Whether you’re part of this military family (immediate or through your dad/grandpa) reminiscing the good ole days or if you just want to try one of the styles for military dining, I’m talking about boodle fight dining (although at a more relaxed pace. …and no getting the food from a trash bin like GI Jane did, 28 minutes into the movie =b), march on to Kalapaw. ^^,
So before Blackbeard’s (and here), the military had already been doing this for ages. At Kalapaw, you’ve got more viand options besides seafood, too. A taste of Laoag, they say on their tagline, so there you go.

Boodle fight for 9. Soy-calamansi-chili dip, tinumok (an interesting dish, mmm, coconut milky taro leaf packets!), bagnet, adobong hito (I got the head), bangus sisig and a jar of iced tea. I didn’t get a photo of the tamarind chicken that also comes with this boodle fight set menu. (We all know what cooked chicken looks like. =b) There’s soup, too…in a bowl, where it should be. =D

Boodle fighting with spoons and forks? We’ve got nothing on the military style. Originally, you eat with your fingers. My brother has the image of boodle fights where the eaters’ hands are tied to their backs…or maybe that was some sort of game/challenge? *harhar
X marks Kalapaw for good boodle fight food in Baguio. (Spoon and forks) Ready ? FIGHT! =)
(Moving on to another joint – Strawberries and Ice Cream for dessert….because they don’t have anything of that sort at Kalapaw. *aw)
Food: How’s about adding some Filipino sweet stuff, guys? *hihi
Service: Pats on the back for our most accommodating attendant! (“,)

Look for the Kalapaw sign. =D (It says on their website, it’s #117… but on the sign, it says #17. Mai-aw-awan. =)))

Location of Kalapaw, click to enlarge photo ***Use Victory Liner’s main entrance (the entrance to the second floor/ticketing floor) as a marker, Martinez Street is a small street going up on the left side of the bus station entrance before you get to Microtel.
