3rd Quick Catch Up on the Baguio Food Adventure
Ahoy there, food questing mateys! =)
In between binge watching, I went around a bit the past 20 days. While I organize my thoughts for an in depth feature, (It might take me awhile, since I’m feeling quite meh and numb these days.) let me just dish out a quick catch up post on our recent food adventures in food trip city, Baguio City.
Online Store: Epicerie Craquelin
Another discovery by our eager beaver foodie friend, Sir Dan. (Thank you so very muchie!) It’s the impressive layers on the online bakeshop’s croissants that got me ordering tout de suite. These flaky pastries are huge, too … as big as my hand. My favorite is the ham and cheese croissant … for the melted toasted cheese trying to escape from the roll. (Would’ve wanted more ham and cheese inside the large, almost shell-shaped puff pastry though. =b)

Basque burnt cheesecake, ham and cheese croissant, pain au chocolat, and a regular croissant =D
More on burnt cheese, I also got one of their Basque burnt cheesecakes. There’s really something about cheese getting burned, no? Somehow it raises the level of flavors the cheese has. The intoxicating smoky aroma, especially on the parchment paper “wrap” also contributes to the distinct taste of this delectable dessert. How my brother relished in the burnt parts of it. (May we get a cheesecake burned all around, we wonder. *tahaha)

Menus
Newly Checked Off
1.) Bagong Bayani
Waters of March (Cue Basia, a stick, a stone ♪ ♫) watermelon drink and cheese bistek flatbread: Pretty good picks, I’d say, for my first visit to this store. (I’m sort of missing plastic cups though. The nontransparent qualities of the paper cup takes so much away from the overall look of a beverage. =S And what a fun drink, that watermelon slush was, with bouncy in the mouth sago (like that in taho) and lemon jelly for sinkers.
2.) Bonabil Diner
Combo meals, FTW!
3.) PAN de Iloko
I thoroughly enjoyed Pan de Iloko’s pancit Abra miki. Perfect for a rainy afternoon. Wee!
4.) Pho Hanoi Vietnamese Restaurant
Read more about Baguio home of authetic Vietnamese cuisine heeere.
Vietnamese cuisine selections prepared for us by a Vietnamese family. Doesn’t get more authentic than this. Do tell them if you want full on Vietnamese style flavors. =D Our attendant explained to us, they are toning it down a bit for the Filipino palate, but if you can take it … take it, take it. *heehaha

Bun/fresh noodles with grilled pork (Bún thịt nướng) and spring rolls. *nomnomnom I’m washing that down with peach tea mania. That’s tea with peach slices and lemon grass.
5.) The Red Soil Cafe
Scroll back up to the egg coffee photo above. Though not available in Vietnamese restos in Baguio, as you can see in the menu that came before this, ca phe trung, made of egg yolks, sugar, condensed milk and robusta coffee can be had at Red Soil Cafe. Note those beautiful layers.
I love transparent stuff … and that cup was double transparent. Eiii, I’m so amused. Made up for the non-see-through paper cups of today’s take-away refreshments. And look, Dulche choco as a drink … and drip bag coffees. (Thank you, Red Soil for Race’s sampler.) *double sip ahh!

*sip ahh coffees … in pretty cups no less. Different flavors of teas are also available, single serving P60, group serving P80. Blooming tea, P80.
6.) UrbaniTea
Since we’re all back on the milk tea bandwagon, here’s Mango, Mango‘s sister refreshment booth.
PROMO ALERT: They have a special treat for tomorrow, Saturday (July 27, 2019) at 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., where you can get a large 22 oz sized wintermelon milk tea for P50, instead of the regular price of P80. Aside from Cedar Peak on Mabini, Urbanitea also has a booth in Abanao Square, and this promo is happening in both branches. Hello, milk tea l<3vers! Ten-SHUN!
Additional Info Bites to Munch On
OTOP (One Town, One Product) Hub/pasalubong center is our newest one stop shop for local delicacies and traditional handicrafts. Easier to #SupportLocal with this depot fully stocked with beautiful pieces and interesting foodstuff to tickle our tastebuds. (“,)
Dulche choco‘s are here, Ms. Florence’s meaty pinunnog is here, Kel’s Kofi, ginger ale with lemon grass, and many, many more. Visit them at Upper Session, DPS Compound, beside KAPEtirya, a few steps from Mario’s Resto.
Alrightie then. If you need extra info about the stuff on this post, please feel free to utilize the comments section below. Back to my regularly scheduled program … The Golden Girls … and cheesecake. *hihi Happy eating out, you guys! ^^,

Oi lolei. May natutunan ako ngayon. Pwede pala itlog sa kape? Try ko nga yan sa Red Soil Cafe
Hello there, Mario! Apparently, yes, egg works in coffee. *hihi If we didn’t know any better, Race’s egg coffee from Red Soil Cafe would’ve passed for just coffee with milk for us. Egg was a nice substitute for Vietnamese coffee when milk was scarce at one time in their history. (The Red Soil version still had milk though, that’s the first layer in the photo.)
Thank you for religiously dropping by this food blog, Mario. Enjoy your cuppa ca phe trung! (“,)
