Elshabab Restaurant: Bring Your Appetite because They Really Do Bring It
So yes, I’m still on the food train of Mediterranean/Arab eats = sandwich wraps; beautiful, fragrant, bughaghag, long grained rice; and meat on sticks.
At our very first visit to Aura One Hotel, we noticed a hole in the wall eatery across from it that seemed very intriguing. The first chance we got, we were there. =) Their menu was to the point enough … I mean, a doable list of eatables … and after some description and translation from our attendant, we picked shish taouk – juicy chicken on skewers, and kudu sandwich- tons and tons of saucy chicken pieces wrapped in pita bread.
All right. My list of tasty rice, Hainanese like rice, rice you can eat on its own is getting longer. I enjoyed the way they cooked the basmati here that I ordered some for take out. At P20, what a steal. \m/ I also got some kebab for my brother which we found to be a bit dry alone … but we understand. Finely minced meat over a flame, that’s really going to dry out. Luckily, I also got hummus and tahini sauces to go.
Because it says pastry on the menu, we got “pastry” to end our meal. Turns out, it was like a quick and simple … but mighty scrumptious … pizza. I love love love the thyme topped one, because it was zingy salty. ^^, Race’s favorite was the pastry spread with yogurt cheese, labneh, drizzled with honey. Contrasting tastes like salty and sweet do work. The cheese one is just what it is, cheese topping.
If only for the shish tawook, we found ourselves at this Arabian restaurant pretty frequently in the days that came. We worked our way through their offering, getting falafel sandwich made memorable by the salad on the side as well as tasty pickles. Wee!
When we shelved it for a time when the skies went biblical on Baguio, raining day in and day out for a month, the resto took that time to remake its menu adding desserts and the fun-fun pure fruit layered drinks to the selection. (“,)
If only for the pretty fruit shake, we returned. Interesting how the blended strawberries gave a fizzy quality to the glass. Race stirred away the layers before drinking, you see, and while I left my layers alone, I discovered it’s the strawberry that gave that fizz and pop tingling to our tastebuds. We found new favorites in their chocolate cake moist, that was truly choco and truly moist and their graham, a simple but delectable square like a mango float sans the mango. =D
As satisfied as we already were with the dessert and drinks, Chef Mj gave us a free taste of the Arabian lasagna. Many thanks, Chef! A filling block of macaroni, though I wanted the ground herbed chicken ratio to be proportionate to the bechamel covered mac.
On another visit just for fruit shake, the chicken shawarma with the works caught my eye. Served as a stack which you carve your own chicken, I knew I needed my foodie lovies with me to feast on this. *hihi
We ordered this group feast that’s complete with fries, pickles, hummas, taheena, and rice in advance. We also got extra bread to finally, get the full make your own shawarma experience in yesterday’s lunch.
Right after Race and my brother’s arms got a tiny bit of exercise, carving strips from the white meat stack, we gorged ourselves in fragrant rice, fragrant juicy chicken, and Hashanah (I hope I got that word right) – a pine nuts, onions and raisins stir fry that you can mix with the already brightly colored beautiful rice. Tossed together, it’s jeweled rice. Brings bling to mind, doesn’t it? *hee Actually, the textures it added to rice, made it even more fantastic.
X marks Elshabab Restaurant/Araby Restaurant for good food in Baguio. We keep coming back to this resto, bringing our appetites with us, though we’ve tried every single item on their menu many mealtimes before. That’s as good a testament as any, to the quality of the offering at this place. They say “We bring it”, and they really do.
Ambiance: Roadside hole in the wall. Again, not and never an issue with great tasting dishes.

Hole in the wall again and foreign cuisine again. Galing mong humanap ng resto Xine. Madali ba mahanap ang Elshabab? Thank you Find Good Baguio Foods!!
Hello there, Candy! Amohosein and Elshabab happen to be in my vicinity. (Me happy they chose to set up shop around where I am *heehahaha) Also, hard to miss as I’m always looking for a different taste.
As for finding Elshabab Araby Restaurant on Rimando Road, please use Aura One Hotel as a landmark, this eatery is across the street from it, beside a lotto store.
Thank you so much for visiting and leaving a comment here! Enjoy, Elshabab! (“,)
