An A1 Dining Experience at Aura One Hotel
All right! Who’s ready for a feature post?
Raise your hand. ^^,
I find myself raising my hand too because I’m pumped … and so is the rest of P3, Ate Beth and Karla and of course, Race. We just came from an A1 dining experience yesterday and I couldn’t wait to tell you about it. (I was going to type up something as soon as we got home but gosh, I was so full, there was nothing else I could do but lay around and let borlog takeover me. =b) (P2 were so ready to help me compose the post as we sat at the table; Race … ah, he’s long gone to Lala Land already. ZZZ!)
Not once, but twice now, Aura One Hotel’s inhouse resto saved us. It was there just when our tummies were a-rumbling. The first instance, we still had room enough in our stomachs so we didn’t hesitate to make a detour for an elevenses, part two to dinner type of meal. *hihi
Walking into the hotel, the sight of the dining area, so unexpected what with the bronzed windows in the facade of the hotel, took both our breaths away. It’s a small dining area, sure, but well lit and cozy and so that’s what X+1 just did. We got cozy as we browsed through their menu and picked palabok and the hotel’s signature pizza for (second) dinner. \m/
The veggies in the pinakbet still nice and crunchy; the pizza so tasty with fab longanisa bits and salted egg in it got us eating with so much gusto. While we wanted to finish everything off in this sitting, we reached maximum capacity. (That’s good news actually because we can have the same stuff all over again the next day. Yey!) The little space we had left, we used for dessert of a huge crinkle (for real cookie) and (now one of Race’s favorite) coffee(s).

A jolly good cup of Joe and a huge crinkle
We did promise the friendly and accommodating staff we encountered that we’d return to A1 Hotel and when we found ourselves eatsploring across the street on a different day, we saw an opportunity for a second visit: Merienda buffet for every weekend in July 2018. *nomnomnom
Sunday was theeeee day to binge with P2 in tow. As usual, the girls and I started with a bowl of congee. Race went right for the dessert-like snacks table that had buchi, biko, maja, buko pandan, and banana cue (sans the … cue-? Hhmmm. Food related “shower” thought just popped into my head. Why is it named that way? Should it be banana queue … as in a line of bananas? *heehaha).
We also lined up for lelot balatong … which I forgot to get a photo of (but I’m sure you know what lelot balatong looks like). The mere sight of it quickly brought up images of childhood. I guess the satisfaction we got from this particular merienda selection will just be in our memories along with images of our grandmas and mothers cooking it up for afternoon snack as soon as we wake up from siesta. *contented sighs
Stuffed with lots of ube, my better half raved about the buchi. Describing it as a champorado made into a biko, he sang praises to the genius of whoever made the biko. In no time at all, he was stuffed. But not enough to gush about the dinuguan and puto to us three that we hurriedly got our own bowls next. Karla, who never eats this blood viand kept saying how surprised she was that she got two bowls, and wanted rice. Whoa that puto! Just like the buko pandan, it’s like pure evaporated milk as used that made it so creamilicious and rich. (“,)
We tried to stay away from the drinks selection as much as we could so we wouldn’t get prematurely full but the call of the delicious coffee won over my companions. I also got my glasses of drinks … yes, one lemon infused water, one iced tea, one lemon cucumber. We kept chatting and munching on palabok, Hawaiian pizza, and fish balls and kikiam with a fantastic sauce and vinegar that ate Beth and I were bound to drink at the end of it all. *sip ahh

What’s underneath the chafing dish covers: Hawaiian pizza, pesto pasta, palabok, fish balls and kikiam
It seemed that the first Sunday of Aura 1’s merienda buffet was a success since the first selections got sold out and new options were brought out. We didn’t get to taste them because by that time, we were all waving the white flag of surrender. =D
At the end of it all, we could hardly breathe so we welcomed the ocular tour of the rooms at this newly opened accommodation. From junior room to family room to function room, we inspected every detail; carpets were done away with, the detail on the comfy looking sheets and the pillows, the nice bamboo scent that greeted us as the door to the room was opened. We were major impressed … so much so, we were ready to hole up and start a staycation right there and then.
X marks Aura One Hotel for good food and an A1 dining experience in Baguio. Into my favorites list, Aura 1 goes.
