Food 411@2600 v.2
Initially, I had my mind on another feature post but seeing as there’s a huge possibility that the City of Pines will be teeming with visitors for the week due to ASEAN, I thought a menu-centric post would be better. Here goes. ^^,
Newly Checked Off
1.) Bow and Whiskers Cafe
(That’s a singular bow. I kept saying bowS. *tee hee) A happy discovery, Baguio’s very own Hello Kitty cafe is on soft opening phase at the moment. We enjoyed their choco freak shake … and as I predicted, I did have to keep myself from licking the rim of the mason jar clean off the Nutella. =b
2.) Hoka Brew at The Podium Boutique Hotel
Another restobar on dry run. Check out the little note below, that their menu is growing. Excited to see what it grows to because this is one nice dining place … and I loved the music they piped in to the dining area – modern orchestra covers of movie soundtracks like Les Mis’ Bring Him Home and get this, Empire Strikes Back. I’m sooo amused. =b
3.) Lala Zeetee Confectionery
It’s been awhile since we hung out at Newtown and I’m glad we finally checked off the newest comer (replaced Teacup & Cake) to the line of food providers there. =D Mighty interesting, that salted egg shrimp pasta.
4.) Samira’s Restaurant
In this replacement to Masa, we have another Arabian/Yemeni/ Mediterranean food joint. Got my first try of the ever viscous molokhia soup from here. What an experience. The winner in this meal was that madgot chicken dish though. \m/
5.) Taco x Wings and Booze Belly at Cholo’s Gastro Park
The section behind Asian Spice at Cholo’s Gastro Park has opened and we got to try some tacos and wings from it on Halloween. How apt the paint on the container turned stall: Dia de los Muertos inspired.
6.) Trattoria Picarre
Picarre from Porta Vaga and SM has found a new home. With a new view and a new menu, they just upped the Picarre dining experience. The first time I veered away from my faves from their food list, carbonara and peach slush. ❤ arugula salad.
Having transferred to Session Road (yey, closer), as one of the inhouse restaurants of Hotel Veniz 2, they also have a new format to their menu. At first glance, the prices are cheaper here too so hooray for that. In addition to this, from 7:00 to 10:00 a.m., they have a simple breakfast buffet for P180.
8.) Kubong Sawali
X+1 returned to Kubong Sawali courtesy of our friends at Ozark. (It was wonderful to see the founders complete and together; welcome home, Sir Aaron.) They’ve been raving about the sisig here as well as the service. My, did they improve. Nice going, Kubong Sawali! They do khamoo-khamoo/crispy fried pork head, laing, etc. well too. And not to forget, my Kubong Sawali binusog na pusit, is still fab.
We meet again, Mon and Pot. Got ourselves an extra bowl of all in lugaw together with the Lala stuff to really top ourselves off for early dinner.
Okidoki, this menu blogpost is done. Just in case you don’t want to be on house arrest for the whole week, you have someplace(s) to go. I know these are not really far flung but I’ll throw it out in cyberspace anyway, in the hopes that we can spread out and not converge in one spot while we’re out and about. =)
If there’s anything that this food blog has proven, it’s that there are places to eat at everywhere in Baguio City. #achievementunlocked (This being the main goal of Find Good Baguio Foods … might as well stop soon, eh? *tee hee)
Give me a shout out in the comments section below if you want to know where the newly checked off can be found. Have a fantastic week, my fellow foodies. (“,) Walk happy!

X Marks the Spot for Good Baguio Foods is a personal blog. Everything posted in this blog is PERSONAL OPINION DERIVED FROM PERSONAL EXPERIENCE and since TASTE can be pretty SUBJECTIVE, should NOT be taken as THE NORM or the LAW OF DINING around in the City of Pines.
Its (prosaic =b) contents are meant to help with the question “san tayo?”/where do we go? in relation to eating out in Baguio, to ENCOURAGE EXPLORING (eatsploring) and TRYING NEW THINGS offered in the City of Pines.
By all means, eat where you want to eat and eat what you want to eat. May you have a great experience with all the places you visit and may all the restaurants you go to deserve a ton of treasure chests! (“,)
(Also, if you have any second thoughts about a certain place you arrive at, please DON'T LET THIS BLOG BE THE REASON YOU ARE FORCED into ending up anywhere. If the restaurant doesn’t have what you want, please FEEL FREE TO WALK AWAY.)
