UPDATE: The Venizes (Cafe Veniz & Veniz Grill)
It has come to my attention that I never really left that many pieces of information about the sister restaurants at Hotel Veniz, whether it’s about the cafe or the grill.
I just mentioned that the Venizes is where my P3 posse and I hung out the most since:
- it’s right smack in the middle of the central business district,
- they’ve got a variety of dishes to offer,
- and the lot of that, all for a reasonable price.
Between the two of these places where to eat in Baguio, the most photos I have from the early beginnings of the Baguio food quest are at Veniz Grill. (Oh, how we love their Mongolian buffet spread … I’m reminiscing now about all the hours we spent there just satisfying our hunger, relaxing and having fun after a hard day’s work.)
I thought all those points would be enough to inspire you, my fellow Baguio eatsplorers to make Cafe Veniz or Veniz Grill one of your food destinations while in the City of Pines and considering that’s my first post about a Baguio restaurant ever, I hope you forgive me.
Anyhoo, it’s a deficiency that’s easily rectified. So here goes, Veniz Grill vs. Cafe Veniz (in pictures). (“,)
Veniz Grill
The Food, the Drinks and (a whiiittle bit =b) of the Surroundings

Dining by night at Veniz Grill: Mushroom ajillos (Dulcinea’s got one too, which I like better), stuffed squid (Kubong Sawali’s still gets my vote for this dish), iced tea shake and regular iced tea. I had one of my regular orders on this visit too, Veniz chef’s salad with balsamic vinaigrette. (“,)

Daytime dining … or at least, afternoon dining at Veniz Grill: Seafood marinara for Beth, the cam shy. One of the days that it was available. And yes, that’s the Veniz specialty salad again. I think the drink we had then was chocolate shake. That’s a dollop of ice ream on it, I believe.
The Veniz Grill Menu

Besides the Mongolian buffet, here’s what else Veniz Grill has. *click to enlarge photo So what would you want for your meal?
Service rating for Veniz Grill: There are too few servers on the floor and it seems most of them are new (so I’ll give them some time to learn their “craft”).
However, on one particular visit that Race and I made to Veniz, it was interesting to see how their new manager (I assumed he was new by the way he acted =)) … wait for it …) trying to ditch his duties going around the dining area to serve the customers.
He liked staying at the counter and when the only other attendant was busy at another table, he looked like he was going to have a panic attack when one of the drinks for another table was ready to be delivered. Fingers crossed, he got over his fear of customers now. No worries, we’re not going to bite. ^^,
Cafe Veniz
The Surroundings

Cafe Veniz dining area by day, by afternoon and pretty much by night. It’s a little dark-ish what with it having a only a few windows. But it makes up for it with the murals. Romantic-ish atmosphere, don’t you think? =)
The Cafe Veniz Menu

Cafe Veniz menu *click to enlarge photo Being at Veniz Grill most of the time, I didn’t really know that the offering was different at the cafe. I remembered having four seasons here before as well as upstairs so you get my logic there. =D Whoa, they’ve got a lot more to offer … sounds pretty good. *drool
The Food and Drink

Frappes from Cafe Veniz: Drinks available only at the cafe. I think I’ll stick to my ice teas and my four seasons from upstairs. *hee, these were a little too sweet for my taste, it’s like drinking sugar. I like sweets but I don’t like sugar and I like salty foods but I don’t like salt. I hope, I haven’t lost you there. The cream was too thick that didn’t blend at all with the liquid. Imagine, oily gunk on the straw and on the sides of the glass, ew.

Dining at Cafe Veniz, never mind about the frappes that we didn’t like because the food is superb. (“,) Oh, Marinara, finally you’re available TO ME. *heehaha Perfect, perfect garlic rice in Race’s grilled honey (yummy) liempo meal. As for my cordon bleu combo, everything was fab. I didn’t get to taste much of the lemon in the lemon vinaigrette though. But maybe that’s just my tongue (too many sour foodstuff have passed over these taste buds) because Race said, he tasted it.

This is me, sharing more about the Veniz “discovery”. Yey … just like how Lucy would say it from Despicable Me 2, for being Baguio born and bred! \m/
Service rating for Cafe Veniz:
So at which Veniz restaurant will you be dining today?
Pick the grill, pick their smaller restaurant on the first floor. Doesn’t really matter because you can always try the one you didn’t get to try next time (They’re just in town so it’s easy access). If there’s one thing this favorite of mine will prove to you, once you’ve tried it, it’ll be true.

Wow, that honey liempo looks really tasty. nice capture!
Hello again, Gian! Yes, it WAS tasty, starting from the garlic rice, yum! Thank you so much! Happy weekend! (“,)
I visited Cafe Veniz when I was in the city last month. As always, I still can’t quite get the right mix for their strawberry coffee. And their cathedral jello seems creamier and less jelly-like compared to the last time I tasted it.
Oh I miss Veniz Grill. Their mongolian bowl is enough to last me a day.
Hello there, Lei De Guzman! Ohh, you came for a visit, nice, nice! I’m now intrigued about the cafe’s strawberry coffee and the cathedral window, will try those out some time. Thank you.
With Veniz Grill, I know right? Love their mongolian buffet. Weee. Hope your week’s going well! (“,) Eat on!
