UPDATE: Teacup and Cake for A Happy Sweet Tooth!
We’re finding ourselves frequenting Newtown – the hotel for their buffet restaurant and also its square plaza for the shops lining the first floor. Some time ago, Teacup & Cake changed the decor of their establishment. Little did we know, it signified a change in management as well.
Even with it changing hands, it’s still a great place that serves tea, cup … cakes, cakes, coffee and other refreshing beverages for snacktime, afternoon tea, and when your sweet tooth starts acting up … like ours did this particular cloudy afternoon. =)

No worries, they serve tea in a bigger teapot, like the blue one beside the playing house set. *hihi
With so many delectable looking stuff in their display case, I pointed to this and that, and this and that to have as dessert after a seafood-y lunch dish that had some gourmet undertones to it that Race prepared. \m/
Gooey cinnamon roll that almost looks like Cinnabon’s was one , only flatter, and minus the over-the-top sugar glaze. Straight to the table from heating, every sugary molecule beat our taste buds really well. #sweet
Our next bites were of the green tea cupcake. It wasn’t as moist as I wanted it to be but it made for the perfect following to the saccharine cinnamon. ^^, With hints of bitter matcha in a mouthful, it refreshed our palates.

Another tea pouring photo. *snickers
More palate cleansing with a sip of tea! I know I’m not a hot beverage drinker but at this cafe, they’ve got a vast selection of tea flavors. I couldn’t resist. Our pot for this visit was mangosteen flavored. Major aromatic … a car freshener smell, Race joked. A comforting drink for me … after waiting a while to get it to kid’s temp. =)))
Back to our sweet delights, we attacked the carrot cake next. This one had the moistness I expected from such mini cakes. =D Just the right sugariness in the bread that the frothy consistency icing top elevates.
Out of all our desserts, I liked the Italian take for the cheesecake best. I’m such a cheesecake lover! This looks like a regular sponge cake. (Honestly, by the look of it, it brought to mind some dry cakes, the only ones we could afford for regular days when I was young.) One forkful, I relearned never judge by the cover. It was super moist … like biting into a squeezed wet sponge but definitely, more palatable. *heehaha The bread was cheesy and the thin burnt custard-like layer on the top was a good contrast to the tinge of cheese saltiness. (“,)

The menu for savory stuff and other hot beverages. Oh, look, the water baggies to dizzy up the flies.
X still marks Teacup & Cake for good food in Baguio. A visit here makes a really happy sweet tooth … and a satisfied tummy, too! (Wow, we got so full from this little “snack”.)
If there is something you liked so much from your visit to this tearoom, you can also order your favorites in bulk like my sister did with these mint topped brownies. Mmm, chewy! Panic buying mode again, I think we’ve a mint brownie stash to last us a long, long time. =b
