Te Quiero, Te Quiero
A good theme song for me is the Beach Boys’ song, I Get Around. I do get around and thanks to Race and his trusty motorcycle, I get around more. While riding around the city, I saw that Microtel Baguio opened their own restaurant. Named Te Quiero Tapas Bar and Restaurant, this is where you’re going to get your fill of Spanish dishes.
When Race and I went to eat lunch there, the manager also told us about their breakfast buffet offering. Then worth P300, (it’s cheaper by P50 now, oh yeah!) you can start energizing yourself for the day as early as 6:30 a.m. with their vast selection of breakfast eats. As we enjoyed our lunch at Te Quiero that day, most especially their chocolate mousse (more on that later ^^,), we said we’d take breakfast at their establishment one of these days.
P3+1 was complete for the Te Quiero breakfast buffet. Weeeee!
The restaurant was rearranged to accommodate the breakfast tables loaded with plates of appetizers, ingredients for salad, atchara (whoa, a whole plate? Yes!) bread, and fruits; chafing dishes for rice, Filipino breakfast viands, viands that can pass for brunch and lunch, and various other food containers with cereal, soup, and dessert. Their breakfast drinks were orange juice, coffee, and chocolate (hot and cold – nice!).
Te Quiero had sort of a small floor space but there are perks to having an establishment that wasn’t too big. It didn’t get too crowded that the staff got spread too thin for the customers to experience personalized service.
I/P3+1 commend the Te Quiero staff for their service at our breakfast buffet experience (and also our lunch experience). Everyone was very accommodating, friendly, and cheerful. They anticipated our every need. Getting to Te Quiero a bit too early, we stood around outside waiting for breakfast to open. They didn’t make us wait to check if everything was set. Once everything was ready, one of the attendants called and welcomed us in.
In getting our seats, they took our drink orders and delivered those drinks to us when we could’ve gotten our own drinks ourselves. In the middle of our meal, they were even encouraging us to get more food. (No other place where I tried their breakfast buffet ever did that.) The bottom line is that, the staff made us feel so at home dining at Te Quiero.
Back to the food, we got to try everything they offered (benefits of being early comers =b). We started with the appetizers, a kidney bean and mushrooms mix that didn’t look that appetizing but made up for it in flavor. For the salad, you could use either the Thousand Island dressing or the tangy vinaigrette. We used this vinaigrette to season the daing and the daing na bangus and it was super fab! (“,) We ate rice with longanisa, omelet with everything in it (again), pork tocino, etc. and when the other viands were finished up, they replaced it with a different selection like adobo and pancit. How contented we were when we finally got to the fruits and biko for dessert.
We had a sensational breakfast buffet at Te Quiero. We loved the food, we loved the staff, and we loved the place! The price of the breakfast buffet meal was also reasonable, more so now that it’s P250 per person. For the love of Te Quiero, we’ll definitely see you again!
X marks Te Quiero Tapas Bar and Restaurant for good food in Baguio.
Food: ***MSG free food! (food offerings are free of monosodium glutamate – as per menu/restaurant staff member. Please ALWAYS CONFIRM with your attendant/server/waiter to be on the safe side. ^^,)
Price: (specifically for the breakfast buffet)
When Race and I had our lunch there, the service was already topnotch. Good work, Te Quiero staff! I loved their mango-orange smoothie which was truly fruity and smooth. (Like a drink you would be having lazing under the shade of a huge and colorful umbrella poolside. \m/) We also got their ensalada Mediterraneo and callos a la madrilena, both of which were zingy yummy.
For dessert, I mentioned we had chocolate mousse. The best that I’ve had so far, everything about it was excellent from the creamy blend of the mousse to the minute but flavorful crunch of the orange zest that you bite into with every spoonful.
As good as their Spanish dishes ala carte are, however, it might put a dent in your pocket. If you’re looking to save on your Te Quiero meal, you might want to go for their buffet (breakfast is served daily and there are lunch buffets on Sundays) or their unlimited tapas offer every Friday and Saturday nights.
