Star Cafe: A Tribute Photoblog Post
So many food establishments closing in the City of Pines this year. =( First there was Bliss Cafe, then Session Delights and McDonald’s Session, and then PNKY. (We didn’t even get to goodbye dine there. *sniff)
(For McDo, that’s only for a little while, afoodionados; thank heavens. It’s goodbye FOR NOW while their new building, right beside the old branch is being put up.)
And so we’re here, taking the opportunity to bid one of Baguio’s greatest hits for good food, goodbye.
I’m not good with parting words *sob sob sob and so I will leave this as a photo tribute to the restaurant that’s served Baguio and its visitors for so many years (famous since 1940 \m/). So long, Star Cafe! You’ll forever be in our memories … and a star at that. =D
That’s shanghai rice, pork with bamboo shoot (the thickest slices of it we’ve ever seen *hihi), oyster sauce with fresh (button) mushrooms, pancit canton with 8 ingredients (That day, there were no crabsticks so we’ll cut that down to 7 ingredients =b) and pineapple pudding in the collage up there.

‘Damascus mourners’ gnashing their teeth and the restaurant’s food. =)) The weeping comes later, I guess.
We all went walking down memory lane too; talking about our grandma; how we, as kids, got through veggie (the then icky, icky) meals, and many other great family stories. Theme song for this phase: timpintin-pintin ♫♪
Fare thee well! and if for ever,
Still for ever, fare thee well.
~Lord Byron
NOTE: Star Cafe is open for business until July 8, 2014, my fellow foodies. If you want to say your goodbyes and have one final meal there, one more for your memories, go, go, go!
***Thank you so much, Sir Trof for the suggestion! Your support is very much appreciated! (“,)
***’Damascus mourners’ from Hallmark’s Arabian Nights. “Second to none.” *heehahaha

Its (prosaic =b) contents are meant to help with the question “san tayo?”/where do we go? in relation to eating out in Baguio, to ENCOURAGE EXPLORING (eatsploring) and TRYING NEW THINGS offered in the City of Pines.
By all means, eat where you want to eat and eat what you want to eat. May you have a great experience with all the places you visit and may all the restaurants you go to deserve a ton of treasure chests! (“,)

No doubt that I will miss Star Cafe! Had many childhood, teenhood & adulthood memories of meals taken there with my family. From the entrees to the breads… =(
Sad, sad day. huhu At least, we’ll always have our memories. Hope everything’s well with you, C.J. A/K/A “The Pinoy Panda”. (“,)
