Procuring the Most Coveted Treats (from other places) in Baguio City
Having talked about some of the must try food in Baguio City in our previous blog, let’s now shift the topic to some of the scrumptious goodies we love so much from other places. (Namely Krispy Kreme and J.Co Donuts and Eriel’s silvanas. …been asked about these a number of times so here are the answers. =D)
Krispy Kreme and J.Co donuts are sold at the Barn Café on Engineer’s Hill (location click here). The selection might not be that varied but we’ll take what we can get rightie? (“,) Beats going all the way down to Angeles City (Marquee Mall for KK) or one of the malls in the capital city to satisfy a craving.
UPDATE 04/10/2014: J.Co Donuts Technohub, CJH, Baguio is open!
UPDATE 04/11/2014: J.Co Donuts SM branch opens.
Krispy Kreme is also for sale at Orange Café on Mabini Street. (I didn’t get to visit to that café yet, but my sister said they have a banner out in front that says they sell Krispy Kreme so you, donut mongers might want to check that place out, too.)
UPDATE 02/07/2013: Bought a half dozen box of Krispy Kreme from Orange Cafe, today! They also sell the donuts per piece and by the dozen. Oh yeah, right in town! \m/ Again, limited options, (I imagined getting the KK Valentines special donuts) but again, we take what we can get. *hihi
On the same street (after Jack’s Restaurant), there’s an optical or clinic that has has a sign up saying they also have KK donuts there.
UPDATE 02/22/2013: Krispy Kreme is also available at the Mister MilkTea booth across the street from SLU Main Gate. Look for the booth of Chubby Shawarma and behind it is Mister MilkTea. (Suddenly, KK is losing its appeal for me… *snicker snicker)
UPDATE 04/18/2012: Confirmed! Krispy Kreme IS sold at Porta Vaga, first floor, at the little candy store under the escalator – Sweet Corner. UPDATE 09/20/2017: Sweet Corner disappeared. Not sure if they just moved or they’re closed.
UPDATE 12/20/2015: Baguio’s first ever Krispy Kreme Doughnuts store opens! Finally.
As for Eriel’s silvanas (the luscious silvanas one could only get from Eriel’s bakeshop in Munoz, Nueva Ecija and resold in the NE Pacific Mall, Cabanatuan years ago. Thanks, Ricky! Shout out to you and Joven! (“,)), you can get them from the store (I think it’s an optical shop *hee) on Session Road.
It’s between Union Bank and the hole in the wall establishment selling load (beside Footstep). They’ve got other delicious-looking treats available, but I’ve got my eye on the silvanas.
UPDATE 04/18/2012: Krispy Kreme donuts are sold here now, too. (I feel an overkill and a saturated market coming on … *tee hee)
All I need now is someone who sells Tuguegarao, Cagayan Alcala milk candy here. Someone…anyone from the Cagayan Valley (John and Hope)? (Shout out to you, too, guys!) Please (set up shop)? ^^,
Postscript Update: On the Quest for Brazo de Mercedes
I got a slice of (the elusive *heeharhar) brazo de Mercedes from Jen’s Restaurant on Diego Silang Street the same day we went for our serendipitous experience at My Serendipitea courtesy of Maam Iris.

Egg-y treat overload (especially the brazo filling) at Jen’s Restaurant. \m/ Not the airy fluffy consistency I wanted, but anyway. =))
Evidently, I didn’t get enough from that slice and so my …err, craving continued. I found out that bakeries like Red Cherries, Danes and French Line also serve this but not every day. (As per the French Line attendant, it’s better to place an order. She’s right. At least on the day you come for brazo, it’s going to be there. *hihi)
I couldn’t take it anymore so we went for the one at Goldilocks.

Brazo de Mercedes from Goldilock’s… it still wasn’t the airy fluffy roll I was looking for but then the filling had a hint of lime in it which I totally appreciated – countered the ‘malansa‘ egg flavor.
(I think brazo is always available at Red Ribbon, too, but I’m still boycotting the tree cutter/earth-baller who shall not be named in this blog. So that’s the end of that discussion. =b)
And that’s the end of the brazo craving discussion as well.
Moving on to other craveables like Ebai’s apple walnut cake or anything from Palaganas Bakery. I’ll get back to you on that soon. Till then, happy eating fellow “eatcentrics”! (“,)
